Anglo-Sikh Wars (1845-1849)
- Anglo-Sikh Wars were the two wars between the British East India Trading Company and the Sikh Empire
- The British East India Company's territories had been expanded until they were adjacent to the Punjab
- The East India Company began to build up its military strength on the borders of the Punjab, after the death of Ranjit Singh, who was able to maintained an uneasy alliance with the East India Company
- Series of conflicts resulted in the subjugation of the Sikh Empire and the annexation of the Punjab
